SURREY – Recent tourist to the Lower Mainland, Gurdeep Bains, has a list of sites to visit while he is in the area and, prominent among them, is famed restaurant King George Pizza.
“You might be familiar with theme-based trips,” explains Mr. Bains “For example, New York has its Sex and the City and Seinfeld tours, where visitors take in the sites and sounds from their Mr. favourite tv programs. Well, for people of Punjab-decent, nothing takes you on quite a nostalgic trip as the adventure that is the Vision TV Tour (VTT)”.
According to Mr Bains, the VTT is a trip designed around visiting all of the sites and locations families like his became particularly familiar with in the 90s and 00s, while watching Vision’s ‘Saturday Mosaic’ block. “Basically, as a Brown kid back then, you only had a couple of hours in the early-morning to watch cartoons, before your parents would grab the remote from you, and the rest of the day your home would have the constant background noise of mother-tongue TV commercials”.
“As a result,” Gurdeep continues. “It’s always been a dream of mine to check out King George Peeza, as well as other Vancouver-Surrey establishments. Besides grabbing a slice, I’m going to prep a renovation of my dining area by picking up some products from Budget Kitchen cabinets, and I intend to take a nice stroll through the park from that Malkit Singh video”.
The Lower Mainland is just the final stop on what has been a cross-Canada VTT for Mr. Bains, who excitedly shared the details and highlights of his trip. “First off, with each city I pass through I make a point of buying a bag of Sher Atta as a keepsake. And, of course, I got an insurance quote from Raj Maan and travel advice from Jaswinder Bains. But, by far, the highlight was when I was in Mississauga and I found myself in a fender-bender. I actually got my car detailed at Rai Auto Collision!”.
