Music collectors across the nation finally play that one trumpet album they own

Date:

HALIFAX – After a heartbreaking week in the music world, one that saw the passing of noted jazz icon Chuck Mangione, music collectors across the nation are finally getting around to playing that one trumpet album they own.

With a relatively consistent career in the 70s and 80s, Mr. Mangione managed to achieve two Top-40 singles (‘Feels so Good’ and ‘Give It All You Got’) leading to unusually high album sales in the jazz world. Years later, those albums would eventually wind up with music collectors as that-record-they-swore-they-would-get-around-to-listening-to-one-day.

Local collector Drew admitted to dabbling in Jazz and is quite familiar with Miles Davis’ “Kind Of Blue” but, when asked why he never got around to listening to Mangione he responded, “I don’t even know how I acquired this, and Chuck is on the cover just hugging a trumpet and smiling. I never felt in the mood for that amount of optimism”.

It was a confusing week for record executives as well, as they’d seen a spike in social media likes for Mr. Mangione the day he passed, but album sales failed to appear.

Another collector, Pat, found himself having second thoughts about letting his copy go in a recent bulk sale, noting “If I had known he was going to die, I would have held on to it”.
