LONDON – With multiple members of the British Royal Family having revealed that they are dealing with a cancer diagnosis, many individuals are seeking information about the widely-suffered, but still-mysterious illness.
Dr. Rami Hussein, Chief Oncologist at The Royal London Hospital, offered some insight. “One of the misconceptions about cancer cells is that they simply invade the body and overpower the body’s other cells, in some kind of glorious campaign, but the truth is quite different”. He continues, “Generally speaking its actions are more sinister and devious. Cancer cells usually take root in a single location, like an organ, and present the image of functional, useful cells, not recognised for the threat they pose. They ingratiate themselves in the local system and accumulate more territory by multiplying and siphoning off resources from the cells that actually make real contributions to a functioning body”.
“Once they’ve established this beachhead, the cells multiply even more rapidly, and begin to use the body’s already-present blood and lymphatic systems to travel and accumulate more territory, overwhelming other areas. They’re able to do this not thanks to any truly special advantage that is worthy of celebrating, but rather just by committing to greedy, selfish, advancement. Eventually this insidious disease takes over completely and chokes the organism of its once vibrant, beautiful, existence”.
According to Dr. Hussein, the effect of cancer is truly awful and long-lasting. “Even if you were to successful expel the malignancy, its legacy can be quite devastating. That’s why it’s important to catch it early and aggressively remove it. Even still, for many, the battle to get rid of it can end up taking a heavy toll from which the body never truly recovers”.
Rami further noted the disease’s debilitating consequences and why so many sufferers experience recurrences. “Its influence is so profound that, in many sufferers, even if it seems like it has been completely expunged, elements of it can remain and, as a consequence, periodically rear their ugly head. Indeed, some might find that, despite the illusion of freedom, the poison remains, constantly meddling in the body’s affairs”.
Asked for treatment options, Dr. Hussein proffered “There are several medications out there, including well known ones like chemotherapy. Also, radiation and surgery. Of course, the best solution is to be obscenely wealthy, so that you can get the kind of treatment that millions who die from it, every year, could only dream of”.
